February update

We have been working hard to improve the product.

Changes to payment terminals

Our in-person card payment system has received excellent feedback from restaurant staff and internal operations since launch. We appreciate the support — and we are committed to making sure it works seamlessly for every customer.

To push the experience further, we have made some significant improvements. We hope they make payments even more straightforward so you can focus on your customers and your business.

What changed:

  • You can now use a single terminal across as many tablets or computers as needed.
  • All your devices can connect via different Wi-Fi networks (or even cellular) and the terminal still works — instantly.
  • You no longer have to tap “Connect to a terminal” in the sidebar.
  • When you collect a payment by tapping “Payment Terminal”, you are asked which terminal to use.
  • After picking a terminal, you take the payment as normal.

Pre-payment tables

A significant number of ORDR locations use pre-payment tables. They are particularly popular with bars, nightclubs, and quick-service restaurants that take payment up front.

To improve the pre-payment experience for staff and customers alike, we spent the last few months studying tens of thousands of orders and making small but impactful changes to the UI and to reporting. The updated flow has been well received by the locations using ORDR payment terminals and pre-payment over the past week or two.

✻ The standing notice

What ORDR does about this.

If you are evaluating tills for a restaurant or a bar and you would rather not gamble on a vendor whose printing layer is held together with third-party middleware, we would be glad to show you ours.
