March and April update

We have been busy over the last two months shipping some sought-after features for every ORDR restaurant and bar. Here are three worth sharing.

Ordering on mobile phones

Since its conception, we wanted ORDR to be as accessible as possible — to customers eating or drinking, and to waiters and kitchen staff.

Today we are very happy to announce that the Staff Ordering UI — where staff place table and takeaway orders — has been updated to work on all modern mobile phones, iPhone or Android.

Many of you use iPads or Android tablets, but we felt the pain of having to carry an iPad around just to take a table’s order. The updated UI also works in portrait, meaning one-handed ordering is now possible.

It has already been activated on your account. Log in to ORDR, place a new eat-in table order or a takeaway order, and you will see the UI in its lovely compact form.

Reporting, part 1: automatic end-of-day

Reports are integral to hospitality — not least for bars with many orders per day. Until now, end-of-day was 23:59:59, with a new day starting a second later at 00:00:00. That was fine for locations closing before midnight, but some restaurants and many bars trade past the switch, which led to confusion about which day a payment belonged to.

We listened. You can now set end-of-day to any hour — 00:00, 04:00, or even 16:00 in the afternoon. It is down to how you run your operations.

If you would like to set a different end-of-day time (for example, if you take payments after midnight), email us at help@ordr.menu and we will set the new time for you.

Reporting, part 2: product categories

Following on from the reports update above, we have also added Product Category — the category each product must be associated with, such as drink, food, alcohol — to more places in the downloadable reports.

This was requested numerous times, mainly by accountants and managers. We want ORDR to be as helpful and streamlined as possible for every role on your team.

✻ The standing notice

What ORDR does about this.

If you are evaluating tills for a restaurant or a bar and you would rather not gamble on a vendor whose printing layer is held together with third-party middleware, we would be glad to show you ours.
